Network Connections – Where to locate your new Rozmic Spam and Virus Firewall server

Rozmic Spam and Virus Firewall can be installed in any of the following locations:

Outside your corporate firewall -- preferred

Rozmic Spam and Virus Firewall is best positioned outside your corporate firewall. This is not a security risk as the Rozmic Spam and Virus Firewall software has a very extensive firewall to protect itself from hackers.

To install outside your corporate firewall you will need a network point on the Wide Area Network (WAN) side of your corporate firewall. To get this you may need to install a small hub between your router and your corporate firewall.

On your DMZ / Behind your firewall
It is possible to install Rozmic Spam and Virus Firewall on your DMZ or behind your corporate firewall but there are no additional security benefits for doing so. You will need to use either a public IP address, a private IP address NAT'ed to a public IP address or a combination of both. Using the port forwarding feature of your corporate firewall you will need to ensure that the following ports are accessible from the Internet:

Inbound Ports:

22 SSH (secure connection to Rozmic IM admin server)
25 SMTP (to allow inbound SMTP traffic)
6227 XMPP (feeds from the Rozmic Update Management server)

Outbound Ports:
21 FTP (outbound FTP for scan services)
22 SSH (secure connection to Rozmic admin server)
25 SMTP (to allow outbound SMTP traffic)
53 DNS (DSN services)
123 NTP (time server)
6227 XMPP (feeds from the Rozmic Update Management server)
